Verify spacing, head type, and temperature ratings.
Ensure fire sprinkler system is installed as per designs.
Commission system and maintain certificates.
Perform weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual inspections.
Hose Reels & Hydrants (SANS 10400-T)
Install hose reels where required and test pressure/flow.
Position hydrants within 90m of all areas, keep marked and clear.
Conduct regular inspections to ensure they are not vandalised.
Fire Doors & Compartmentalisation
Install fire-rated doors in escape routes and key areas.
Check ratings (30–120 mins) and self-closing mechanisms.
Inspect regularly for damage or obstruction.
Ventilation & Smoke Control
Provide smoke ventilation in high-risk buildings.
Maintain pressurised stairways or openable 1m² per floor.
Test fire dampers and smoke control systems.
Escape Routes & Signage
Ensure multiple, unobstructed escape routes to assembly points.
Install illuminated/emergency signage to SANS 1186 & 1464 specs.
Conduct evacuation drills quarterly.
Compliance & Training
Hold current SANS 10287 or ASIB certificates.
Maintain fire protection records and inspection logs.
Train staff on fire equipment, evacuation, and fire door protocols.
Schedule annual fire safety audits.
